Why It Matters?
A photograph changes when you encounter it in person.
You notice the scale. The texture of the paper. The precision of the print. The choices the artist made. The object’s physical presence.
For many students, PSfA provides a first opportunity to experience photography this way: not as content to scroll past, but as something real and immediate.
When students handle physical prints, curiosity deepens. Conversations open up. Confidence grows. Art becomes something they can enter rather than something kept at a distance.
Inspire the Next Generation
Your support helps create meaningful connections between students and working artists across generations and communities.
It helps young people imagine creative futures for themselves. It encourages close looking, critical thinking, and visual literacy. It reminds students that culture belongs to them, too.
A single portfolio can spark ideas that last for years.
"It was incredibly valuable for our students to have the opportunity to see contemporary and historical work of such significance, in person, and in their classroom.”
- Professor Gwen Walstrand, Missouri State University
